When I started planning my trip to the Amalfi Coast, I quickly realised that there are a lot of towns aside from Positano and Amalfi and that it could still be a budget-friendly trip if you stayed at more affordable towns nearby.

If you’re a budget-conscious traveller like me and want to experience this beautiful place without spending a fortune, I’ve got you covered!

In this guide, I’ll share the most affordable towns to stay in on the Amalfi Coast so you can find the best deal, including average prices for accommodation and my top picks for best value stays for two people.

Budget friendly towns to stay in on the Amalfi Coast

While budget and Amalfi Coast are two words I wouldn’t normally put in the same sentence, it’s still possible to find good deals and affordable options in the Amalfi Coast if you plan ahead.

Prices are also slightly cheaper during shoulder season (Apr-May or Sept-Oct) or off season (Nov to Mar).

The most affordable towns to stay in for 2025 include:

  • Sorrento: Average €80 to €100 per person / night

  • Atrani: Average €90 to €120 per person / night

  • Maiori & Minori: Average €70 to €90 per person / night

Accommodation Options by Town

Budget-friendly accommodation options in Sorrento

Sorrento is a large town that sits just outside of the mountains, meaning that there is lots of supply for B&Bs, hotels and apartments.

It’s known as the gateway to the Amalfi Coast, located at the very eastern point on the mainland, and is connected to Rome and Naples Airports via train and bus, as well as nearby islands Capri and Ischia by ferry.

There are also bus and ferry routes that run from here to towns along the Amalfi Coast, making it a great base for your time in the Amalfi Coast.

Cheapest: Hostel & Glamping Santa Fortunata

This is your cheapest option in Sorrento, with a mix of glamping tents and double / triple room options starting at €100 for 2 adults, 2 nights (min 2 night stay).

Mid-tier: Lemon Town B&B

Located 400m from the centre of Sorrento as well as only a 10 minute walk from Sorrento Train Station, rooms here are a good option for those planning on doing a day trip to Pompeii as well as day trips to Ischia/Capri or to other towns along the Amalfi Coast.

A double room with private bathroom starts at €306 for 2 adults, 2 nights.

Affordable value: Hotel Mignon Meublè

One of many hotel options in Sorrento, this top-rated property is centrally located with beautiful blue and white tiled rooms overlooking a leafy garden and includes breakfast.

A double room with garden view starts at €394 for 2 adults, 2 nights.

Budget-friendly accommodation options in Atrani (Amalfi)

Atrani sits near the middle of the Amalfi Coast stretch, just a 15 minute walk from Amalfi making it very convenient place to base yourself.

Amalfi is also the terminus for a lot of bus routes - if you’re travelling from Maiori to Positano, you’ll likely have to change buses once you’re at Amalfi.

Whilst Atrani is affordable compared to neighbouring towns like Amalfi, Ravello and Positano, expect to pay a bit more than Sorrento.

Mid-tier: Alfieri Rooms - Cielo - Amalfi Coast

A lovely place with Italian style design and blue and white tiles with a loft bedroom, and a kitchenette and bathroom downstairs. This cute spot is located in the heart of Atrani, just 60 steps from the main road and 2 minutes from the beach and was my top pick for places to stay.

Starts at €366 for 2 adults, 2 nights.

Affordable value: Il Viandante Enchanted - Atrani

Another Italian style studio apartment that’s centrally located (the window overlooks the town square) where you can enjoy the breeze and local village atmosphere from your window. We stayed here during our trip and had a great experience - truly felt like we could embrace Italian culture!

Starts at €445 for 2 adults, 2 nights.

Budget-friendly accommodation options in Minori & Maiori

Minori and Maiori are just three minutes drive or 20 minutes walk from each other, and located just 20 minutes by bus or ferry from Amalfi.

It’s also a pleasant one hour ferry ride to Positano, making these towns a great base. However, I would suggest staying in Sorrento for part of your stay if you’re looking at day trips to Capri or Ischia.

Mid-tier: Casa Venturo

A cosy and chic place in Minori that will make you feel like you’re a local living in Italy, complete with an enchanting garden where you can have your morning coffee and breakfast.

The entire home starts at €278 for 2 adults, 2 nights.

Affordable value: La Casa del Poeta

A beautiful apartment located just 75m from the sea in Maiori, this one will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a calming blue oasis with all the amenities.

The entire home starts at €347 for 2 adults, 2 nights.

Other Tips for Budget Travellers

  • Some places have a minimum 3 night stay during peak season

  • You can also save money by choosing public transport (bus is cheapest, followed by ferry) rather than taking private transfers or taxis to move between towns the Amalfi Coast

  • There are also bus and train options from nearby major cities (Naples, Rome) to Sorrento or Salerno

  • While many sections of the beaches are paid, most will have a free section where you can sit and access the ocean.

  • When dining in at restaurants, if you don’t plan to eat the bread then you can ask to send it back when it’s brought out to you, otherwise it will be included as part of the bill :)
